Agentic Workflows & Business Process Automation

Automation that's built on a visual no-code tool is fine until it isn't — until the step count hits 40, until the error handling fails silently, until the tool's pricing changes and the monthly cost is suddenly a problem. Agentic workflows built by SynS Infrastructure are code-first or n8n-based depending on the complexity, with explicit error handling, observable runs (you can see what happened when something breaks), and retry logic that's deliberate rather than accidental.

DELIVERY COMMITMENT

Continuous staging previews from Sprint 1 with clean architectural handovers.

Who this is for

  • 01A small business that manually processes 50+ of the same thing per week — lead intake, invoice processing, data entry from one system to another.
  • 02An ops team that needs a pipeline to run on a trigger or schedule: ingest → enrich → classify → route → notify.
  • 03A founder who wants an AI agent that can complete a multi-step task using tools — not just answer a question.

What's included

  • ✓Process mapping: what the automation needs to do, in what order, with what error paths
  • ✓Tool-calling agent or deterministic pipeline — the right pattern for the problem
  • ✓Integration with external services: CRMs, Slack, email, databases, REST APIs
  • ✓Trigger setup: webhook, schedule, or manual run
  • ✓Error handling: what happens when a step fails — retry, alert, dead-letter queue
  • ✓Observability: a log of every run with input/output per step, so debugging is not a guessing game
  • ✓Handover with documentation: how to add a new step, how to change a condition, how to debug a failed run

Stack & tooling architecture for Agentic Workflows & Business Process Automation.

Why we choose each component in the production runtime.

n8n

Self-hosted or cloud. Visual workflow builder that's actually extensible — unlike some alternatives

Node.js (custom pipeline)

When n8n's abstractions don't fit, a purpose-built service is cleaner and cheaper to run

OpenAI / Anthropic

For the AI steps that need a model to classify, summarise, or decide

Supabase / Postgres

Persistent state between steps, run logs, dead-letter queues

Resend / Slack API

Notification delivery — email or Slack depending on where the team actually looks

How this discipline executes.

01

Scope & Architecture

Define exactly what gets built, what doesn't, and milestone criteria — in writing, before work starts.

02

Iterative Staging

Weekly written updates with staging deployments from the first sprint. Test features as they are built.

03

Handover & Ownership

100% repository, credentials, and documentation handed over. Retainers available for ongoing evolution.

Questions & answers for this discipline.

Is n8n self-hosted or do you use their cloud?+

Either. Self-hosted gives you full control over data and costs. n8n Cloud is faster to start. We'll recommend based on your data sensitivity and ops capacity.

Can you automate something that involves a third-party tool without an API?+

If it has a browser interface, it can be automated — but browser automation is fragile and maintenance-heavy. We'll be honest about that trade-off. If an API exists, use it.

How do we know if a run failed?+

Every pipeline we build has failure notifications wired in — Slack message, email, or both — and a run log you can inspect. Silent failures are not acceptable.

Can this replace our existing Zapier workflows?+

Probably — and at lower cost at scale. The migration is a scoping exercise. We'd want to understand what each existing workflow does before committing.
